Science vs Norse Mythology

One thing I'm curious about, what are they currently being taught? I don't recall being taught evolution in school. Genetics yes, but not evolution. But I read a lot, so I don't always know what I learnt in school and what I picked up elsewhere. Certainly, most of my current knowledge of evolution comes from a mixture of popular science and talking to knowledgeable friends.

We would have done the creation story in school, in religion class, but IIRC, we were told it was a myth/symbolic/something like that.

I assume all this means the USA will go the way the USSR did - pushing Lamarckian evolution held back its biology research for decades.

ETA: I've no problem with ID/Creationism being taught in religion class. I'm assuming they want it taught in science class.

Did you do biology for the Leaving Cert? I did. and evolution was a big part of it.

That could be it then :-)
No, I didn't. I just kind of assumed Lovely Man, who also doesn't remember being taught it, did. Perhaps I should actually ask him. How very unscientific of me. Same for my flatmate.

Lovely Man did do biology for the Leaving. You'll have to discuss the sylabus between yourselves next time you meet :-)
