my twittering (crochet)

21:49 Finished fun 1/3 of scarf. Doing row 12 diff'ly to pattern (will edit later). Also realised row 7 should have been diff'nt. Live & learn #

Longer version: I have two thirds of the scarf done. The middle part, the part I finished last night, is the more fun part, with clusters of dc (tc, to those using English terms). But, though each cluster is 2dc, there is a chain between each, so that's three stitches. In the hat, you hdc into each stitch, meaning there's 50% more stitches than when you started. Fine for a hat, cos it's supposed to get bigger. When making up thescarf pattern, I didn't notice that, partly because the hat pattern says "(50 stitches)" both before & after the clusters, but it's more like 75 after. Anyway, I've shrunk it down again by only hdc'ing into the dcs, not the chains, but it's a little bubbly because the middle wants to be longer than the outside. If making again, I would do less* clusters, though I don't know if I want to shrink those rows by as much as a third.

* I don't care if it should be "fewer".

Gah! "Learning curve"! I couldn't think of that phrase last night.

Btw, I've just added a much longer explanation to the post.

I ended up saying "learning process" to you yesterday.

The things is, I didn't want to come up with a new expression. I just couldn't remember the learning curve one!
