my twittering (house)
  • 17:01 The heating in the house we're building is definitely working. Bit hot even since nuteile blocked the huge gaps under some of the doors. #
  • 17:29 doesn't look like we get 3G here though. Must look up what E in the signal icon means. #

E means Edge, which is 2.5.

  • Woo! So it really is possible to suck heat of the ground and shoehorn it into your house — brilliant!
  • Ah yes, E for EDGE. I thought it was EGPRS, although maybe they're interchangeable or both mean the same thing; not sure. Ah, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edge_network says EDGE == "enhanced data rates for GSM evolution" and EGPRS == "enhanced GPRS". Either way, looks like claimed data rates from 236 to 1894kbps.

thanks. And for bonus points, what's 3.5a? (or 35a)

Same. The signal icon. Sometimes I get 3G, sometimes E, and sometimes 3.5a.
