For the landing of our new house, I want simple, narrow, cylindrical lights, in red. I have looked in many light shops and now found what I want. So I went to Woodies today, to buy these, which aren't what I want, but will do for now and aren't over €100. Poking around the boxes, unable to find that, I found another one hidden away, that is very nearly perfect. But they just had the one, and I want four. No more in stock, so the woman in customer service called a couple of other branches. They're discontinued! She's very kindly continuing to call all the branches in case they're still in stock somewhere.

But oh noes! What a thrill, followed by such distress*. kristamm, can I steal your oh noes icon? It is the only thing that can cheer me up now. </melodrama>

* I have been reading too much Anne of Green Gables. Now I must go on about how terrible it is for an orphan girl who has seen the perfect light for the first time, but must leave, discontent and empty-handed**

** Except for some duct tape. And catalogues from another lighting shop and a bathroom shop.

Edit: She's phoned back. No luck :-(

Of course you can! You clearly need cheering.

Thank you! It always makes me smile when I see it. Lovely Man and I have taken to imitating it when something minor goes wrong. Except without becoming line drawings with floating words.

Excellent! It please me greatly, and I'm glad it does the same for others.

Are any of these a suitable replacement?

I can go up to my Woodies, if you like, and check. Ours is some weird Woodies...it's in its own Bermuda Triangle. They have htings no one else has, and never have things you think they would.

Thanks, but not really. I do love the glass in the orange one though. However, I've remembered a place on Camden St that had something that is either this or something similar. I'll be meeting silja near there tomorrow, so I'll take a look and possibly order them, depending on price.

She called round loads of branches. If yours is the one I think it is, that's the first she called. But thank you.

I did see one in National Lighting that would be exactly what I wanted if it was red. But the site is pretty poor, so I can't find any pics.

Oh bummer! I hope it's just a sign that when you are not looking you'll come across some fabulous lights, far better than the ones you saw in Woodies

Hope so!

What happened your poor dog?

Stupid wires. Stupid holes.

We at least have our main kitchen lights in. Here's a picture of them installed in the window: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mollydot/2320590265 They're installed in the ceiling now, but I've no pic of that.

Allergic to dust. Sorry!
