want a TV?
Thanks to olethros, we now have a widescreen TV and quite a lot of Babylon 5 to watch on it. So, anyone want a free non-widescreen TV? It's about 20 or 21 inch, Mitsubishi.

Our TV series viewing will be a bit more varied this year. We still have some borrowed West Wing to watch and Lovely Man gave me more Buffy and Angel for Christmas, so we'll be continuing to watch those, which were the staples of 2006. But now we have the B5, and I gave him Lost. Season 2, as I thought he'd watched most of season 1. He hasn't, so it'll be season 1 for his birthday at the end of the month (don't read that sentence, LM!) We're also thinking of buying BSG. I must get a hold of Torchwood and season 2 Dr Who too. I'd like to re-watch Firefly too. Must get it back from the person I loaned it to. Any other must-watch TV? (We don't watch broadcast TV - intentionally haven't tuned it in, as it sucks up too much time we could be wasting on the internet).

The DVD/video watching instead of broadcast TV watching is nice. It's something we do together, rather than whoever's home first turning it on and vegging. I'm sure C is still disgusted with us,ね?

Eeek, we might need it in a month, but not before then?

Only a might, not a definitely?

Ok, how about if someone else responds to this post and can take it soon, they can have it, but otherwise we'll hold on to it and only post to freecycle if you decide you don't want it.

Cool! Thing is, you see, we'll be moving home some time in February, and it's unlikely that any flat we rent will come with telly... but we don't know where we're moving to, nor when exactly. So yes, perhaps there are more deserving and less faffy recipients out there!
a very caring potatomollydot on January 3rd, 2007 10:43 am (UTC)
That's cool.
So, you're staying in Dublin for the forseeable future?
the femme dandy highwaymanglitzfrau on January 3rd, 2007 10:44 am (UTC)
Ahahaha. Let us say rather, I am behaving as though I am. What is actually to be is v. much in the laps of the professorial gods.

I will consult with Mary re: telly as soon as she is awake!

Yeah, sometimes it helps to pretend, rather than just floating.
Good luck!

OK, we would like to take it if at all possible! Thank you! We'll have to figure out some kind of pick-up - we've no car, but perhaps we could get it into a taxi?
a very caring potatomollydot on January 4th, 2007 10:33 am (UTC)
We have a car. We can drop it over.
Well, not right now this minute :-)

*cough*Freecycle*cough* :-D

I have the first 6 eps of Lost for download, if you want 'em. And I highly recommend watching the Big Damn Heroes again :-). Shiny!

We download stuff from the states, over Usenet. So let me know what you're looking for...
a very caring potato: fireflymollydot on January 3rd, 2007 11:20 am (UTC)
Pardon? I'm afraid can't hear you over the coughing :-)

Yep, will offer on freecycle if it's not taken from here.

Doh! Already dl'd those eps, and forgot. Must tell himself. I don't really like watching stuff on the computer though. Perhaps I can try burning them. He got me a new computer for my birthday and there's a DVD burner in it.

Mmm... big damn heroes... The guy I loaned them to hasn't even watched them yet! Or at least hadn't last month. I told him to watch the first before giving it back, so at least he'd know if he wanted to borrow it again, but I don't know if he has.

Heh. That Mistsubishi TV post just now isn't me!
schmoomomschmoomom on January 4th, 2007 10:24 pm (UTC)
Darn, was going ot respond to that one :-). Do you have it still? I might have someone who wants it...

Sorry, glitzfrau is taking it.

Hey Mollydot!

Long time, no see. I have a copy of Firefly you're more than welcome to. It in the custody of a friend who's worryingly incapacitated in hospital. But that's another discussion.

My flatmate here has just got tonnes of West Wing for Xmas. I watch little TV but I've become quite the Bartlet devotee in the process.

Good luck with the big telly,

Re: F'fly

Took me a while to work out who you were. I'm a bit slow today. This week, probably.

BTW, that comment by molly on your blog is me, in case you hadn't realised, though I assume that's why you're here, rather than coincidence. I must see if I can get the link to point here. Or at least add "dot" to my name. It didn't seem to be letting me log in to blogger - maybe I need to create an account first. I presume I can add "dot" by changing my first name in gmail.

I do own a firefly set, I just need to get it back.

I got WW season 1 for birthday/Christmas last year; that's what started us off watching it. Then I gave Lovely Man season 2 and we borrowed the rest. Coming towards the end now - I think we've one more disc of season 6 now. I'm kind of losing interest - it seems less focused that before. How far along are you?

Hope your friend is ok soon.

Re: F'fly
No no no, season 7 of WW is one of the best (like, they might as well have gotten Sorkin back to write it!). Complete opposite of season 5 (aka the Train Wreck).

You do have Serenity too, right? :-D

Re: F'fly
Because we're pretty much watching them all at once, I don't really remember which is which season. What I didn't like about 6 is that it's not concentrated in the West Wing. People have scattered and it seems more all over the place. It could be that I find it hard to be on everyone's side too, as they're not all on the same side and I want to be up for nearly all of them. I even think I'd vote for Vinick.

Well, we'll see what season 7 is like soon - we just watched the last episode of 6. Given the way they usually end the seasons, I'm surprised we know who the democratic nominee is. I don't really care about the leak, which seems to be the main cliffhanger.

Yep, have Serenity! Only watched it once though. We're much better at watching the tv series - less time commitment up front, even though we usually end up watching two or three.
