birthday
I had a lovely lunch with a lovely man in Rhodes D7, though I made the mistake of ordering a risotto for my main, which generally turns out to be a bad idea. Does anyone know where you can get a good risotto in Dublin? Properly cooked, no cream, and idealy no pubes, as happened in another place. Chocolate tart was lovely, as was Lovely Man's pork and parsnip mash and my starter of duck confit with pear and honey braised red cabbage.

Then we did a bit of Christmas shopping and I tried to buy some green cord for crafting. Hickeys is out, probably because of Christmas. Trimmings has some, but it's nearly twice the price - €1.20 a metre and I'm pretty sure Hickeys is 65c. I had some of the Hickeys cord with me, so was able to compare - the thread in the Trimmings cord looks finer, so perhaps it is worth more. But I got some narrow ribbon instead at 45c/m.

Thanks for the lovely lj ballons, mirp!

Hope to see some of you in Keatings tonight. We'll be there around 8.

The risotto distracts from the pube. It needs a different dish to bring out its full flavour.

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Mollydot, Happy Birthday to Yooooou!!

Sorry I couldn't make it after all, was waiting to hear from Australia, only to be told at 2am that the op has been cancelled yet again til next Tuesday.

I really hope you had a wonderful time and got loaded down with pressies :-)!!

Argh! I hope she's holding up well.

Unfortunately, not. Seems she's now having to take sleeping pills on a regular basis just to get a bit of sleep, it must be really hard on her having the op postponed twice now in Australia (and three times in UK), so if I'm feeling the pressure of this, I can only imagine what she must be feeling like at the moment.

Slightly belated happy birthday to you - sorry I didn't make it to Keatings, but I had acupuncture after work which made me all sleeeeepy.

And what kind of maniac puts cream in a risotto? With or without pubes?

Ah yes. I've never had acupuncture, but I imagine from experience with other treatments that it could have that effect.

I know! It's insane! And horrible. The cream one was without pubes. I prefered the pube one.

Actually, I prefered the replacement pube one. The one with the pube wasn't properly cooked. When I pointed out the rather suspicious hair to the waiter, he got it replaced (the risotto, not the hair). The replacement was gorgeous, all soft and creamy, with no cream or pubes!

Because of the delay, they replaced Lovely Man's starter too. We were very full after that meal.

The cream people probably put cream in carbonara too. It's probably a diary board conspiracy.
