Red Paper Beads

Red Paper Beads
Originally uploaded by mollydot.
I just made these paper beads a few minutes ago. They're decorative paper wrapped around a cocktail stick. The cylinders are made from long rectangles, the tapered ones from narrow triangles.

I'm not sure what I'll use them for. I could make a necklace, but they're not protected in anyway, so can't get wet or dirty. I could varnish or dimension glaze them, but I like the matt look they have now with nothing on them.

The other option is to use them for further papercrafting, like a card.

I've more strips cut, ready to make more, but it's bedtime.

I think ModPodge makes a matte product.

Thank you!
They're not hard, just fiddly. I saw a tutorial recently, I'll give you the link if I get time to dig it up. It's from the craftzine blog.

Cool!

I've always had this idea of myself, you know, where I am not crafty or creative at all. But I took up knitting in February (to try and calm myslef down when I thought I had cancer) and it has opened up lots of new things for me.

This is where I found it: http://www.craftzine.com/blog/archive/2006/08/how_to_make_paper_beads.html
I haven't tried using any glazes or anything on them yet.

I've just started knitting too. I used to do it when I was in primary school and I was always very bad at it, so that put me off for ages. But I've decided that it doesn't matter and I've made two tiny things and I'm on a third. Card making is a great hobby, because you can try out so many things - I've made a card with my second knitted thing, which I'll be uploading at some stage, and the first, a little scarf, is also for a card. I'm going to make a little hat to go with it.

Nice to see the CD has a good home :) And the beads are cool.

It's settling in nicely. An olethros is happy that I have been introduced to, and like, VNV Nation. It's one of my two favourites on the CD (well, three if you count Smashing Pumpkins, but that has the advantage of familiarity)

Thank you for both the CD and the bead comment :-)
